NYT and change in climate change conversation

A New York Times editorial today about “Setting Big Goals, Hillary Clinton Joins the Climate Battle” is indicative that the acid test for tackling climate change now seems to be whether politicians will commit to keeping fossil fuels ‘in the ground’, especially in their own country. The editorial ends with:

If the global warming’s worst consequences are to be avoided, a big chunk of the world’s fossil fuels will have to stay in the ground. A big test of Mrs. Clinton’s commitments will be whether and how she addresses this reality.
